Shannon and I were pretty good friends in middle school, but drifted apart somewhat in high school. At some point after I moved back to Seattle 1996, I called up her parents in Albion and got in touch. We met up a few times (she was living in Tacoma), and I got to hear the story of her wedding, which was over Skype (her husband was in the armed services and was deployed overseas — it must have been one of the first ever weddings on Skype). When he came back, I had the privilege to attend their in-person wedding in Tacoma.
